The South San Francisco High School ballet folklorico program made a triumphant return to live performances after a COVID-induced, 18-month hiatus with dances celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at South San Francisco city hall on September 16.
The dances were part of the Fiestas Patrias event, which commemorates independence from Spanish rule by various Latin American countries including Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Each of these countries as well as Brazil, which was a Portuguese colony, celebrate their independence in September.
