Coaches

All coaches are expected to:

• Act as positive role models for student-athletes

• Maintain professionalism and uphold SSFHS and SSFUSD standards

• Ensure student safety and compliance with CIF and district requirements

• Keep all required certifications current throughout the season

Important: Coaches may not work with student-athletes if any required certification expires during the season. There are no exceptions.

Many athletic teams rely on unpaid volunteer assistants.

Volunteer coaches must:

• Complete the SSFUSD volunteer clearance process

• Obtain fingerprinting clearance

• Receive approval before having any contact with students

Required forms are available:

• On this website

• Through a school or district office

Volunteer coaches may not work with students until their application is fully approved.

Coaches are responsible for maintaining current:

• CPR Certification

• First Aid Certification

• TB Clearance

• Water Safety Certification (if applicable)

Failure to maintain these certifications will result in immediate removal from coaching duties until requirements are met.

• SSFHS provides free CPR/First Aid training for coaching staff every other year at the end of the spring season

• Online certifications and third-party providers are accepted

• Some athletic departments may reimburse certification fees (with proof of payment)
